The day starts at 10:00am with a ribbon cutting at Mechanicstown Park. L-R Commissioner Hooper, Elf Carol, EDC Chair Stacie Zelenka, EDC Sec. Virginia LaRoche, Mayor Burns.


Santa had lots of little friends visit for a chat and free photo.


Santa even had friends that weren't old enough to chat.

A wonderful day had by all. Our community wants to thank

The nice weather brought out a bumper crop of “early birds” to Mechanicstown Square Park.  The line to register children for prizes and to pick up adult prize maps stretched out onto the sidewalk


Santa had lots of big friends visit for a chat and free photo.


The day ended with the prize drawings at Hobbs Hardware.

The Thurmont EDC / Main Street Scooter raffle concluded at Christmas In Thurmont with the drawing of the winning ticket. We thank everyone that helped support the EDC & Main Street by purchasing Scooter Raffle Tickets. Thanks also to the many businesses and individuals that helped sell the tickets, sponsored the ticket printing and helped display the scooter.


The scooter was won by the Hubbard family and they are joined by members of the EDC as they pick up their prize.

Christmas in Thurmont 2010
Christmas in Thurmont arrived right on time at 10:00 am on December 4th and featured Christmas stockings filled with treats for all the good girls and boys, free pictures with Santa, prizes for lucky adults, entertainment and refreshments. This years  celebration also included the lighting of the Thurmont Lions Club Remembrance Christmas Tree.  We thank everyone that joined us at Mechanicstown Park and on Main Street as we started the Christmas Season.

In spite of the chilly temperature we had our ribbon cutting at 10:00am.  We are grateful for the participation by Commissioner Glen Muth and Mayor Marty Burns as they helped us get Christmas In Thurmont 2010 under way!


The smiles on little ones faces during Christmas in Thurmont make this one of the happiest days of the year!

Recently Thurmont Main Street Manager Nancy Gregg Poss and Thurmont First, Inc. Board Chairman John Kinnaird, owner of R. S. Kinnaird Memorials,
participated in a training program and completed
The Certified Tourism AmbassadorTM(CTA) Program.

  Upon completion and the passing of a written exam, Poss and Kinnaird are now certified Tourism Ambassadors.  The Certified Tourism Ambassador Program is a ground-breaking, nationwide certification program that serves to increase tourism by training and inspiring front-line hospitality employees and volunteers to work together to turn every visitor encounter into a positive experience.  The CTA Program goes well beyond basic customer service training; it gives participants the opportunity to build upon their knowledge of the local region, enhance their skills in serving customers, increase their awareness of information resources and discover the power of tourism!
