Recently Thurmont Main Street Manager Nancy Gregg Poss and Thurmont First, Inc. Board Chairman John Kinnaird, owner of R. S. Kinnaird Memorials,
participated in a training program and completed
The Certified Tourism AmbassadorTM(CTA) Program.

CTA Pin 002

Upon completion and the passing of a written exam, Poss and Kinnaird are now certified Tourism Ambassadors.  The Certified Tourism Ambassador Program is a ground-breaking, nationwide certification program that serves to increase tourism by training and inspiring front-line hospitality employees and volunteers to work together to turn every visitor encounter into a positive experience.  The CTA Program goes well beyond basic customer service training; it gives participants the opportunity to build upon their knowledge of the local region, enhance their skills in serving customers, increase their awareness of information resources and discover the power of tourism!

Main Street Hosts a Creative Collection of Scarecrows

Thurmont ‘s Main Street area will feature a month long display of hand crafted scarecrows.  The scarecrows are keeping the birds off of the parking meters and you are invited to take a stroll downtown and check them out.

It’s not to late to participate in the scarecrow decorating fun!  For a $5.00 donation businesses or individuals can get a scarecrow kit, create a masterpiece of crow scaring art and have it displayed on Main Street.  Contact Nancy Poss at 301-271-7313 x21 for details, rules and a scarecrow kit!
